ISLAMABAD (MNN); Vice President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Air Marshal (Retd) Arshad Malik, has said that relief goods worth Rs10 billion have been delivered to the people of Gaza so far.
Talking to anchors and media representatives in Islamabad, he stated that more than 6 million kilograms of relief items, equivalent to 6,000 tons, have been sent to Gaza through 32 chartered flights and four sea vessels. He said Alkhidmat Foundation’s Gaza relief operation has been ongoing for the past 27 months.
Arshad Malik highlighted that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has worsened due to recent rains and severe cold weather. He announced that during the month of Ramadan, Pakistan will send additional relief supplies to Gaza through chartered flights, including food items and tents.
He said that in the coming days, food supplies and tents will be dispatched for around 20,000 people. He also revealed that more than 400 Palestinian students are currently studying in Pakistan.
The Alkhidmat Foundation vice president said a development package worth Rs15 billion will be launched in Gaza, under which hospitals, a university and mosques will be constructed. He added that schools, housing units and water treatment plants have already been established in Gaza to provide clean drinking water.
Arshad Malik appreciated the generosity of the Pakistani people, saying they have contributed wholeheartedly for Gaza. He said hundreds of trucks carrying relief goods were sent to Gaza through Cairo, Egypt, and cash assistance was also provided to the affected population.
He further stated that several projects are underway for Palestinian refugees in Gaza and Egypt.
