TEHRAN/ISLAMABAD (MNN); Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Sunday warned Israel to immediately halt its military operations in Lebanon, cautioning that any further escalation or retaliation against Iran would trigger a much stronger response.
In a statement issued by the IRGC’s Joint Military Command, Iran said it had previously warned that any expansion of Israeli attacks in Beirut’s Dahieh district would result in strikes on targets within Israeli-controlled territories.
“We had already warned that if the attacks and crimes in Beirut’s Dahieh area expanded, we would target locations in the occupied territories,” the statement said, adding that any further Israeli action would be met with “more crushing and regretful blows.”
The warning came after the Israeli military announced that it had detected missile launches from Iran, marking the first such incident since a fragile ceasefire between the two sides came into effect in April.
According to the Israeli military, air raid sirens were activated in several parts of the country after missiles were launched from Iranian territory toward Israel.
“A short while ago, sirens sounded in multiple regions across the country following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel,” the military said in a statement.
In response to the developing security situation, Israel’s Home Front Command ordered the closure of all educational institutions nationwide on Monday.
Following a security assessment, authorities placed the entire country under a restricted activity regime, suspending all educational activities as a precautionary measure.
The Israeli military later reported a second wave of missile launches from Iran shortly after the first barrage.
Officials said Israel’s air defence systems were actively tracking and intercepting incoming threats.
The military claimed that all missiles launched during the initial attack had been successfully intercepted and that defensive operations were continuing against additional projectiles detected in Israeli airspace.
The latest exchange has heightened concerns about a broader regional confrontation at a time when efforts to preserve the fragile ceasefire remain under significant strain.
